People assume that because I get stuff given to me to review that the fact that I didn’t have to pay for it makes it more likely that I will give it a positive review. I must admit, sometimes it’s hard to give a hearty raspberry to a lousy product who’s maker passed it along to me free of charge and with such enthusiasm for the item. It’s hard, but I don’t let that stop me. I’m sure some of the vendors even count on the thrill of the freebie to influence my review–they shouldn’t, it won’t.
So, when you see me rave about a product and say that I use it all the time, you can take that as fact. As evidence to this, I have recently purchased (as in shopped, payed money for, and bought) replacement gadgets for my 15″ PowerBook that I once enjoyed on my 12″ iBook. These include RadTech’s Wildeepz, Laptop ScreensavRs, PowerSleevz, and iSkin’s ProTouch PB. I’m sure there will be a few more updates I’ll need to make to bring my new laptop up to snuff with the gadgetry I had for the iBook, but these ones are the ones I missed the most.
If anything, getting a few freebies every once in while only serves to build an addiction to accessories of which I might otherwise be blissfully unaware.
