Some time on Christmas Eve I will drive over to the dog breeder’s place and pick up my new puppy. I’ve bought new seat covers, baby/puppy gates, puppy food, a couple collars and a tag. I’ve been listening to The Art of Raising a Puppy by the Monks of New Skete. I think I’m ready.
Oh, and the tag? I have found that when owning a rare breed dog, it is important to identify the breed on the collar in the event that a classified “Lost and Found” needs to be posted. If I’m scouring the paper looking for my lost dog, any ad saying “FOUND: Leonberger named Abby” chances are it’s mine. Otherwise, I’m likely to have to look for “FOUND: German Shepherd/Golden Retriever cross named Abby” which may or may not be mine in a town named “Abbotsford” where many things are named “Abby”
