Abby's first day with meI picked up Abby at noon today. She was much bigger than I anticipated, but awfully cute. Signed the papers and let her get accustomed to the car. The book I have been listening to told me I could expect her to pee, poo and or vomit on the way home. I prepared a nest of newspapers and towels in the footwell of the front passenger seat for her to sleep in as I drove her home…wishful thinking. Abby only wanted to climb into the passenger seat beside me which is constructed of the most absorbent and stain receptive fabric Saturn offers.

It was okay–no solids, fluids or mixtures thereof were introduced to my car on this particular trip and, other than whimpering at the tug of the occasional g-force as I rounded a turn, Abby was a delightful passenger.

Once we got home, I took her out the to back yard to do her thing as my book suggested. She just wanted to play, chase me, pick up and shake leaves and be a pudgy bouncy puppy.

I brought her inside and introduced her to the kitchen linoleum which will be her domain for the next little while as I gradually get her used to the whole house. She ate some kibble, sniffed at and entered her little crate (the breeder gave it to me (thanks Julie!!)) and got used to the surroundings.

I decided to see how she would do on a walk, so I got the little collar I had bought last week and put it on her and attached the leash. She obviously isn’t quite used to the idea of the leash or her role as the one being walked as opposed to the one who is walking me, but for her first time out, she did extremely well. Very well behaved and very friendly to the couple we met when we reached the park.

We’ve come back from the walk and she’s eaten a bit more kibble, lapped up some water and peed on the kitchen floor. Now she’s napping peacefully. I wonder if I can go out for some drive thru…?

She sure is growing fast! It would be great if you could take dated pictures of her in front of the same item (perhaps a growth chart of some fashion) so we could see the changes over time.
