Last Friday I finally broke down and bought a mic. I’ve been using a Plantronics headset mic for a year now and it’s okay, but I felt it was time to bring this Spoilers thing up to a new level.

So now I’ve got a nice mic, a mixer and a mic stand…but no cables. My studio is almost entirely wireless… but not in a good way… not in a functional way.

I took a detour through The Source (the store formerly known as Radio Shack) looking for cheap cables. It turns out that it is very difficult to buy new cables that haven’t been blinged out with gold plating. I just need cheap stuff. I don’t want to pay $14 for a $3 cable. I’ll deal with the corrosion. Trouble is, if the cables at The Source (the store formerly known as Radio Shack) are too pro for you, there isn’t much lower you can go.

Speaking of The Spoilers, we were interviewed last Thursday for an article that got posted today. At time of posting the article is still kinda messed up. The author assures us that the print version came out correctly but the web incarnation seems to be suffering a bit right where we finally get our moment of glory.

    Hey Rick.

For cheap cables, go to a “dollar store” or check out RP Electronics. (www.rpelectronics.com). They have a whole wall of cheap audio/video cables and stuff.

Nice Jerker. I have three of them. Hope you never have to move because once you take it apart its a real chore getting it back together.
