Now that the Photoshop Cartoon Tutorial I wrote over 2 years ago is fast becoming overused in media, it’s really weird for me to look back and remember that when I originally rote it, it wasn’t very well received. It was over a year before anyone took notice but once it got mentions on sites such as Flickr, Make, Lifehacker, and Attack of the Show it started to pop up in video as well as print.
The this past week I got a press release about a new set of Photoshop filters; one of which looks very familiar. While I’m kinda bummed that people will soon be able to apply this effect without any help from me, I’m glad to have started a craze that will soon be too popular for its own good. And maybe their will be a few people out there that might remember this effect’s more humble beginnings.
