I’d like to welcome Frank Bisono to the Pacific Northwest
Frank Bisono is a friend of a dear departed friend. He was living in Ft. Lauderdale, FL with his wife and kid(s) (not sure how many kids–I really don’t know him all that well). Yesterday he moved to Seattle, WA to take a job with Microsoft.
I have been told by many who have relocated to the Pacific Northwest that the weather is a bit of a struggle to get used to. It rains a lot here, but the people who have lived here all their lives (like me) don’t even notice. I walk through the rain without an umbrella–I know that if you use an umbrella, there is a good chance it is just going to get blown inside out and you’ll get soaked while you fight with it in futility…and if it doesn’t, the rain will blow sideways into your face and soak you just the same. I’d rather have my hands free and be drenched than be just as wet and fight with an umbrella that is probably beyond repair anyway.
Frank comes from Ft Lauderdale as I mentioned before. I’ve never been there but, from the pictures Bill showed me, it looks nice. Sunny. Warm. But then there are the hurricanes. Still, coming from that, Seattle will take some “acclimatization.”
Yesterday, just as Frank’s plane was probably touching down at SeaTac, it began snowing. It was the season’s first true snowfall. We don’t get snow here like they do in Colorado or Calgary. It usually doesn’t “stick” (survive the heat of the fall and the landing, accumulate and prosper). This was the first snowfall to actually stick.
Nice welcome for a family used to “palm trees and warm sand”…. moving right along… welcome, Frank, take some time today to have a snowball fight, build a snowman and make a few snow angels. Oh!! And the yellow snow? DON’T EAT IT!!

Hahahaha! Wow, thanks for the welcome Rick. Just finally got internet at the corporate apartment and had a chance to start catching up on news feeds. Great to be a Seattleite now, and I am sure I will get used to the weather eventually. It beats getting hammered by a hurricane anyday! I was always a Starbucks fan, but it’s my new best friend in this cold. So when are you going to come to the dark side and create WinMerc?
